About Us

The Academy of Medical Professions is a licensed Proprietary School certified in Maine. This school began in 1996 in Topsham, Maine as Transcription Associates, Inc. School of Medical Transcription and is still certified by the Maine State Department of Education and has since established ourselves with the Adult Education Systems in Maine with great success. We now offer classes at the Adult Education Centers in York, Auburn, Kittery, Brunswick, Gray, Maranacook, Scarborough, Fort Kent, Marshwood, Noble, Westbrook, Massabesic and Gardiner.

We are proud to offer complete correspondence courses with all our lectures provided through streaming audio on our web site, and an instructor is assigned to you for assistance through the program as well as grading of papers and assigning work. This allows those students who cannot attend classes to get the feel of the classroom participation.

We have achieved a great success  in placing our graduates. Although we do not guarantee jobs, we will teach how to get them, where they are, what you can expect for pay, what your resume should look like, and will forward e-mails and phone calls to you as we hear of jobs.
You can always feel free to contact our company for any help or guidance.

Norm Jacques, Phlebotomy Program Director/Instructor

I've began my career in healthcare as an EMT in Arizona in 1997, and moved on to become a phlebotomist in 1998.  I've worked as a phlebotomist/lab assistant for 15 years, with vast experience in geriatrics over 100, to infants less than an hour old, and all ages in between.  I began instructing phlebotomy 4 years ago, and have since taught laboratory assisting and medical assisting as well.  I approached Amy at the Academy of Medical Professions a couple of years ago, and with no outside help, designed and developed the phlebotomy program that is taught through this institution today.  I am CPR healthcare provider certified through the American Heart Association, and I have taken business management communication classes at the University of Southern Maine at their Lewiston and Portland campuses.
